September arrives in Khon Kaen with a different rhythm.
It is still very much the rainy season. The days are warm, the landscape is green, and sudden showers remain part of everyday life. September is typically one of Khon Kaen’s wetter months, with temperatures commonly sitting around the mid-20s to low-30s Celsius. For those living here, an umbrella in the car or bag is still a sensible companion.
But beyond the weather, September 2026 is shaping up to be an interesting month for the city.
Khon Kaen continues to demonstrate why it is much more than simply a provincial centre in Northeast Thailand. It is increasingly a meeting point for business, education, agriculture, technology and regional development.
One example comes on 10–11 September, when the Khon Kaen International Convention and Exhibition Center (KICE) hosts both Agri Expo Thailand 2026 and Sugarex Thailand 2026. Agri Expo brings agricultural technology and innovation to the heart of one of Thailand’s most important agricultural regions, while Sugarex connects the sugar, sugarcane and bioethanol industries with businesses and professionals from Thailand and overseas.
September also brings people together outside the exhibition halls. On 13 September, the Hin Chang Si Super Mini Marathon 2026 takes place in Ban Fang, followed by Waeng Noi RUN 2 on 20 September. These may be smaller community events, but they are part of what makes Khon Kaen interesting: development here is not only about buildings and investment; it is also about communities and the people who give each district its character.
